It has been a while since I updated my blog, basically because I have been busy houes shopping and working. My car is going back to New Era Performance for some work on the diff. It has been leaking on colder days and I really don’t want to get low enough on fluid that I damage the diff. So I am having them install a DTE hardened output shaft, all new seals/gaskets, Pfadt transmission brace, and of course new fluid.
I have added a badge with contact information to the right sidebar if anyone wants to contact me. I am still debating on using gmail or my domain level mail account for contact.

I did not atten the April rental due to three things
- Leaking Rear End
- Uhaul wouldn’t rent me a trailer
- No company would rent me a larger truck to tow a trailer
But I did save some cash, payed off my bills, which is good. However the rear end on the Z06 is now leaking onto my driveway. It’s not a huge leak but annoying, and I think I might have found the issue. A common problem on C5 corvettes is the driver side axle seal leaks. This is a $16 part and about 8 bolts to get to, I’m sure the dealer would charge me atleast $600 in labor. Due to not wanting to be ripped off by a mechanic I will be attempting this myself, after I get the car on my friends lift to confirm where the leak is coming from.

Wednesday and Thursday of last week I took my car to New Era Performance to have some work done. The throttle body was ported, and my WCC bolts and Bilstein shocks were installed. After that was completed the car was dyno tuned, and it was in desperate need of a good tune. The result of all this work was a great looking, handling, performing car. It turns out the last shop to tune it did a very poor job and I am glad I am not running their tune anymore. The dyno tuning resulted in 374 rwhp and 366 rwtq. A link to the dyno video is below…

Also the gallery has been disabled, I need to fix a few things and it will be up later this week. Once I also upgrade to vimeo pro I will post some new videos, until then I will have to wait until Tuesday to show my buddy destroying some tires in his GTO.

So far this weekend has been great! I solved my electrical issues with my Z06 and even installed all the parts I needed to. Also I switched frankkumro.com to a new host ( asmallorange ) and the speed difference is amazing
I do have some tighter storage restrictions but until I get to 90% of the disk I wont worry about it.

So it would be my luck that 1 week from going into the shop, and ~2-3 weeks from the rental my car would throw a fit. I believe a short exists some where in the car. When I hit a bump both doors lock, and the driver side door controls don’t always work. I am also receiving errors about servicing the traction system and abs which are all new. This weekend I will be looking for shorts in the driver side door, testing the battery, and then cleaning/checking the grounds for the car. Two bottles of BG44K (to fix gas tank issues) are on the way to my house, and I ordered the jacking pucks from LG so I can repair my front tire. Also I found a small puddle of brake fluid on the ground under my car. Now I need to inspect the master/slave cylinders and front driver side brake components for leaks.

The May 2009 Volume 3 No. 5 edition of Vette magazine shows a nice picture of my car in The Fast Lane section. I won that spot for May and it was due to a 1/4 mile time of 11.94 @ 117.95mph with the following modifications.
- BPP Vortex Intake
- Vette Doctors Dump in tune ( Carlisle 08 )
- Fastbird Perf. Line Locks
- MGW Shifter
Patrick ( owner of digitalcorvettes.com ) scanned the magazine section and posted it here. I also scanned the same section and posted it in my gallery here. It’s very cool to finally be in a magazine

So finally all the parts I need before my April 8th trip to NJ have arrived. Nothing is a major addition, as the cam is not going in until I get some headers but here is the list.
- 160 degree thermostat
- WCC front/rear lowering bolts
- WCC throttle body coolant bypass
- CCA black oil catch can
- Torco
- Bilstein HD shocks
I also have a LG G5X3 camshaft waiting to go in, that will be fun
The lowered stance of the z06 will be amazing, I cant wait! Hopefully the snow stops so I can get the suspension and tune done in time.
